Our goal in serving each family who comes to us, is to help them celebrate the life of their loved one ~ to assist them in providing a dignified service to honor the life of their loved one. The goal is to help them to graciously receive their guests, in a facility that is comfortable and suited to them ~ a place that is beautifully appointed and that speaks well of the manner in which they have chosen to honor the memory of their loved one.

Our rooms are well lit and spacious, airy and comfortable, keeping with current trends in fashion, while at the same time making use of antique furnishings and paintings in appropriate settings. In Plymouth, our main chapel not only has use of a beautiful fireplace, but also a large atrium, with a garden of living plants. We have a large and comfortable lounge with coffee and soft drinks available, and we provide a fully appointed kitchen for our families to use if they would like to have a bite to eat. Our Westland facility has recently been decorated in a style that is appealing and comfortable. And while our setting is one of comfort and graciousness, our prices are competitive and are in many cases less than those charged by facilities in other localities.

As the funeral industry has changed with the passing of time, so the services that we offer have changed ~ to keep in step with current trends in our culture, and to provide along with our traditional line of funeral printing, we are also currently able to offer Photo Memorial Folders and Prayer Cards, which we produce in-house, using state of the art scanning and color printing equipment.

Another important service that we provide our families who choose a full service funeral, is the Video Tribute. This 6 minute video is professionally produced, using photographs representing the life of the loved one provided by the family, and can be shown in our chapel during the visitation time or during the funeral service for families who choose it. The finished product can be a source of encouragement to families and friends. The production and viewing of the video is done at no additional cost to the family. We can then provide copies of the video tribute (available on VHS cassette tape, on CD or DVD) to those who would like to purchase them.

We have even been able to help put a family in contact with a company whose business it is to produce a diamond from the cremains of their loved one ~ an option that has only become available recently.

The Vermeulen family has been serving in the funeral home industry for over 50 years. We not only provide personal and caring services to families at their time of need, we also show our continued caring by providing grief care support groups, as well as private grief counseling and referrals.

We assist families in applying for insurance benefits, and Veteran benefits, including arranging for Military Honor Guard for those veterans who are eligible. We assist those families who have a need or interest in setting up funeral pre-arrangements. Our directors can also refer families to other financial and legal professionals if desired. We also give assistance to families in ordering cemetery markers and other memorial items.

We assist all families who come to us, with regard to race, religion, sex or national origin. We serve families of all faiths, and to the best of our ability we accommodate all beliefs and final wishes.

Vermeulen Funeral Home has also supported our communities by participating in church and civic affairs. Our staff is involved in many civic organizations, such as Plymouth and Westland Chambers of Commerce; Kiwanis International, BPO Elks Lodge and Rotary International. Some of the charities that are supported by our funeral home are: Plymouth Symphony, Michigan Special Olympics, Sokol Detroit, Salvation Army, Plymouth Community Arts Council and Plymouth Community Band and Chorus.

The Vermeulen family have been members of a local church for many years, and also have ties to several other established churches in other communities in Southeast Michigan. As you can see, the Vermeulens have made and effort to become assets to the communities where they serve, and they have also stressed those values to their staff.

“The Vermeulen Way” ~ is the combined result of many years of practical experience, consistent care, and concern for our fellow man. It is our desire to serve the families who come to us in such a way, that they will wholeheartedly recommend our funeral homes to their friends and associates at their time of need.
